Programs and Services
Hope's Door offers many helpful services to women and their
children in Collin, Dallas, and surrounding counties. Victims'
services are free of charge.
Hope's Door also offers intensive group counseling for abusive
individuals.
Emergency Shelter The emergency shelter is a comfortable five-bedroom home that
can house 19 women and children at one time. Women and their
children may stay at the shelter for up to 30 days. During
their shelter stay, residents are provided with all the essentials
of daily living, including food and clothing.
Hotline Services Women and their children gain admission to the shelter by
calling the 24-hour hotline number, 972-422-7233. In addition
to serving as a point of entry for clients, the hotline also
offers crisis counseling and resource referrals. Calls made
to the hotline are anonymous.
Individual and Group Counseling Counseling sessions are an integral part of the Hope's Door
program. Residential counseling is provided during the shelter
stay, and the aftercare program offers a one-year safety net
of continuing support and counseling. Case managers work with
each resident to help her develop a safety plan to keep her
and her children safe, and to establish a plan of action that
will enable her to live independently away from the abuser.
Outreach Counseling The Outreach Counseling Program provides group counseling,
education, and support to women who do not need residential
services. Women who attend outreach counseling meetings learn
effective communication skills to express their feelings and
needs. They create safety plans and form bonds of support with
their peers.

Men's Counseling Program The Battering Intervention and Prevention
Program offers intensive group counseling to perpetrators
of domestic abuse. This 24-week program is designed to hold
batterers accountable for their abusive behavior. Through
the use of a structured curriculum that covers themes ranging
from Defining Violence and Equality, to Respect, Support
and Trust, counselors help perpetrators identify and examine
belief systems that form the core for abusive behavior.
Educational Programs Community education is provided through speaking engagements,
panel discussions, day or evening workshops, community events,
newsletters, print articles, and media appearances.
Professional education, covering training in intervention
methodology, is conducted for area police officers, social
workers, nurses, physicians, and other professionals.
