The Men's Counseling Program
Battering Intervention and Prevention Program
(BIPP)
The Battering Intervention and Prevention Program is a program
based on changing thoughts and behaviors. Many people who have
difficulty with inappropriate and criminal behavior want to
change but do not know how. This program helps abusive individuals
to identify belief systems that form the core of abusive behaviors.
This program teaches some tools that, if used, will help abusive
individuals to avoid becoming abusive in the future.

ALL FEES MUST BE PAID BY CASH, MONEY ORDER OR VISA/MASTERCARD
AND BE PAID AT TIME OF SERVICE.
Location
When assigned to a group, participants will be provided with
directions to the location of that group. All groups are held
at Hope's Door Program office.

What are the responsibilities of the
counseling staff?
- Meet with participants for an initial assessment/intake
- Provide crisis support on as needed basis
- Provide a minimum of 24 weekly sessions
- Provide court-mandated clients with the appropriate documentation
- Provide monthly progress updates to referral source
- Provide updates to client of status and participation
- Comply with anti-discrimination laws
- Provide fair and humane treatment
- Provide program orientation
What are the responsibilities of the client?
- Attend the initial appointment, orientation, and weekly
group sessions
- Refrain from all violence and abuse
- Is on time for group sessions
- Complies with group rules
- Does not violate terms of protective orders, probation,
or other legal directives
- Work to maintain honesty with self and group and is willing
to take responsibility for own behavior
- Abides by terms of probation, protective orders or other
legal directives
- Refrains from use of alcohol or other drugs
- Make payments as required
- Attend minimum of 24 weeks of group sessions
Program completion requirements
All clients must complete the following components in order
to complete successfully the Battering Intervention and Prevention
Program:
- Complete an intake/assessment session.
- Complete a two (2) hour orientation session.
- Complete 24 weeks of two (2) hour group sessions with
no more than three absences. All absences must be made up.
- Pay all program fees in full.
- Have no reported incidents of violent behavior.
- Does not violate terms of protective orders, probation,
or other legal directives.
- Refrains from use of alcohol and drugs.
- Works to maintain honesty with self and group and is willing
to take responsibility for own behavior.
Upon successful completion of the program, a letter of completion
will be sent to the appropriate judicial personnel and the
partner/victim. The letter of completion will also be placed
in the client's file. In addition, a copy of the letter will
be given to the client.

offenders are able to learn a new belief system, learn that
they are making a choice to be violent, and learn that alternative
non-violent choices are possible.
