Community Education

Hope's Door educates and trains the professional
and corporate community, concerned citizens, civic, social, and
church groups.
Curriculum topics include the dynamics of domestic
abuse (including forms of abuse, warning signs, and characteristics
of perpetrators), the effects of domestic abuse on children, referral
protocol, applicable laws including reporting and documentation
requirements, safety planning, establishing boundaries, dating
101, qualities of a healthy relationship, and how to talk to a
victim or perpetrator.
Training and education settings are diverse. The
Community Education Program will customize an event to meet specific
needs. Length of presentations range from 20 minute general overviews
to full and half-day workshops.
Examples of professional and/or social service communities
that should consider hosting a training include:
- Law Enforcement: Police officers, judges, attorneys
- Health Care: Nurses, doctors, mental health professionals
- Faith: Ministers, lay ministers, women's and
men's groups, Sunday school classes
- Neighborhood: Crime Watch, Homeowner Associations
- Service/Civic: Junior Leagues, Rotaries, auxiliaries,
clubs, sororities, fraternities

programs
- Schools: administrators, counselors, instructors,
students
